I feel like I have gotten to know each individual in my class thus far decently well. It was interesting to see how people's personality types came through in the way that they presented. Erin's was amazing! And it was also organized, and well-thought out. Sarah's was exactly how I thought it would be: interesting and informative. And might I add also excellent. One presentation was actually on personality types. Everyone loved learning about their personality, because people are generally obsessed with themselves.
All of the presentations were really good, and great presentations of people's different personalities. I love how everyone made their presentation so unique to them. When people are passionate about something, and spend a lot of time on it, it really shows.
Like I said in my presentation, my long term goal is to be a great teacher. Doing my presentation on Grit was a way for me to incorporate my passion into my project. Not only did I enjoy talking about this subject, I enjoyed researching it as well. I know that what I learned in research will be beneficial to me when I one day have my own classroom.
I also really wanted to share with other future teachers the importance of grit in students, and small ways they can foster this. I was speaking to a room of future teachers, so I wanted to make my presentation something they could relate to and use in the future. Know who's in the room. I was very passionate about what I was saying, and I hope my passion came through in my presentation. It's always so hard to judge your own self. I honestly can't say how my presentation went as a whole; hopefully well.
I love to be different when I do projects or presentations. I always try to do something fun to make my projects stand out. Usually my teachers and my peers love when I add a little flair. This time I added cookies, which I think were a hit. I love to have an excuse to bake, so it was a win for me too. Everyone loves food. If you're doing a presentation and there is a rational way to incorporate food, I highly recommend it!
It is so perfect that tomorrow is national poem in your pocket day! I found the perfect poem to relate to my topic. And, my poem allowed the class to practice recognizing grit for themselves. It also allowed for some communication among them, which is always a plus when someone is talking for a long time. I know I needed a little break! And I am sure they did too.
I had a lot of fun with this project, and I can't wait to see what others present on next week :)
